As an integral part of the Elmbridge Community Music Society, Elmbridge Young Musicians is a youth band providing an opportunity for young people in the Elmbridge borough, with an interest in music, to come together and play in a group.
All abilities and instruments (from Grade 1 upwards) are encouraged to join in and have fun.
Playing an instrument in a group is quite different to playing on your own and involves listening and keeping going even when you make a mistake!
The aim of the group is to develop musicianship (learning to listen, count time and develop musical expression) at the same time as having fun in a relaxed and friendly environment. Instrumental tuition is not provided. Positions are open to any instrument however we have limited slots for some instruments.
We are a charity band and we perform at concerts and play at public events, giving our musicians the experience of playing in front of an audience. The band is part of the Elmbridge Community Music Society and as such often performs with the Elmbridge Big Band, the Elmbridge Choir and the Elmbridge Ladies Choir. All proceeds from our concerts are applied to charitable causes in fostering and improving music within Elmbridge and the surrounding boroughs.
EYM meets at St Christopher’s Church in Hinchley Wood on alternate Saturdays from 1.45pm to 3.30pm. Refer to the rehearsal schedule for dates.
